Tonya Wilson

FORTHCOMING JULY 2016!

Tonya Wilson, was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland, and spent her early childhood years growing up in Westport, a low income public housing community located in South Baltimore. She is the second of four sisters born to a single parent mother and has always enjoyed reading and creative writing. Wilson graduated with a degree in Mass Communications from Towson State University in 1985. Her love for writing and her experiences growing up in the ghetto, have resulted in two debut novels, Portrait of a Hustler and its sequel, The Chronicles of Toni and Toni Toni Toni. Tonya had so many stories in her head that she cannot get them on paper fast enough.

PORTRAIT OF A HUSTLER is the storyline of three brothers, Carlos, Donnell and Troy, who grew up in the poverty streets of Southwest Baltimore.

Carlos began to rebel at the age of 13, was thrown out of school and introduced to a lifestyle of crime by other neighborhood delinquents, and consequently was sentenced to a 3 year commitment at a local boys training facility.  Carlos made a major drug connection during his commitment that would affect the rest of his adult life.

Carlos, who protected and supported his mother and youngest brother, ironically could not save his alternate brother, Donnell from drug addiction and ultimately a brutal death.  Nor could Carlos save himself from an addicting lifestyle of drugs, crime, and a beautiful gold digging woman, Toni, main character of

THE CHRONICLES OF TONI.

This powerful story puts us inside the mind of a troubled youth, who was raised by the streets and training facilities, and instead of becoming rehabilitated, he becomes a mastermind and wealthy drug lord.  We live his life, his sensitivity, his love of family, his love of a woman, and his desperate need to survive.  We watch a boy grow into a “Hustler”.

THE CHRONICLES OF TONI is the sequel to Tonya Wilson’s jaw dropping debut novel, PORTRAIT OF A HUSTLER.  It is the storyline of Toni Nelson, a young girl raised by her single parent mother, Joyce Nelson,  in one of Baltimore’s public housing projects, “Westport”.

Growing up in the concrete jungle of “Westport”, watching her mother’s struggle to survive after the abandonment of her biological father, molestation by her number running step father resulting in a childhood pregnancy, an unwanted abortion, a murder, and an addiction to drugs and alcohol which all contributed to Toni’s path of mass destruction. The desire to overcome her tragedies pushed Toni to achieve academically, and thus she became a dangerous weapon of beauty, street smarts and books smarts manipulating drug dealers for her sole financial gain. Toni’s story intertwined with the story of Carlos Gould, a major drug lord and the main character of PORTRAIT OF A HUSTLER, and the downfall of his empire.   Toni Nelson's cold soul eventually finds Christ.  God is Able!

"Toni Toni Toni" is Tonya Wilson's finale to her finale break-out "Booked on Tonya" trilogy. The storyline picks up with the life of Toni Nelson, a main character from "The Chronicles of Toni" where Toni's life, her mind and her heart is divided into three. Toni is struggling with a ghost from her past, Carlos, and the betrayal committed against the love of her life, new choices, and a new love including a lesbian relationship and a relations with " A Man of God" in her attempt t commit to spirituality. As Toni seeks to find love and sanity this trilogy ends with a bang.

Lipstick Monologues is based on the lives and the struggles of several Sistahs including a transgender, all fighting for love, harmony, dignity, stability, completion and God’s Forgiveness. Toni, the mistress,  is deeply in love with a married man.  Tatum is trapped in a marriage of domestic abuse.  Faith, who is left an orphan after her mother’s murder, turned foster child, turned stripper is hopelessly searching for love.  Kendra, who is born in a man’s body is in search of a real rain-bow.  First Lady Ashanti, is standing on the promises of God despite public humiliation by a cheating husband.  You may find yourself amongst some of the characters or you may find someone who you know and love in one or all of the characters.  I am hoping that you will search yourself and find com-passion!  I am represented (past and present) by many of the characters in Lipstick Monologues, and in all of my writings  i.e., single mother, bastard child, fornicator, adulterer, drug dealer’s woman, gold digger, gossiper, smoker, alcohol partaker, over eater, prideful, non-forgiving, etc, etc, etc… But God!
