Selina Polk

Author Selina Polk was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland, and attended Baltimore Public Schools. Selina always loved to cook, so she followed her dreams to college and received her certification in safe food management. She then partnered with Carlos Smith to open a soul food carry-out restaurant in west Baltimore.  After opening a successful business, Polk began catering events throughout Baltimore and Maryland. But that was just not enough for her.

 

Selina never knew her father, but she later met Tom Moses and discovered he was an actor, writer, and producer.   She was also introduced to her sister Christina Moses.  After making these connections, she realized she had inherited a gift that was in her father as she picked up a pen and paper and started to write. In 2008, Selina Polk wrote her first book, How To Please Your King, and it was a hit selling over 5,000 copies.  In 2009, her second book, How To Please Your Queen, hit bookstores.  In 2010, she wrote a fictional tale, l Girl I Got a Story to Tell, to tell her life story.

 

Then Selina wrote The Untold, where she discussed her travels around the world in 2012.  In her book, she gave an account of the many different men and women she encountered that revealed to her their horrific stories of hurt and abuse. Selina also spoke with children that were left behind or had lost their mothers. During this journey, while Selina had been touched by their stories, the people she spoke to had their lives changed when Selina began to motivate them to forgive and let go of the pain and bitterness.

 

 

 

Girl, I Got A Story to Tell chronicles a period in Selina Polk’s life.  It delves into situations no woman should be faced with…betrayal, lies, abuse, and drugs.  Around every corner lies challenges, but with the help of her children and friends, but most of all God’s good grace, she overcomes the obstacles of her life. There is another urgency before me now. I feel compelled completely to share with you my walk with Christ. I do know the Holy Spirit has let me know repeatedly and clearly that there are hard times and imprisonment ahead. But that matters little. What matters most to me is to finish what God started: the job the Master Jesus gave me of letting everyone know that he Loves us and know all about this incredibly extravagant generosity of God. This walk has not been a cake walk, but through this book you will see into the reality of God Kingdom His love and His word.
